Another good customer service experience....

Back in January, I bought a bunch of DVDs, because they were cheap-ish, and I needed some. I got some 8x -Rs and some 4x +RWs, and that was pretty much it.

I didn't get to the 8xs until recently. A couple of them burned okay, but then a bunch of them just started failing for no fucking reason.

When I narrowed it down to the DVDs themselves, I decided that I had to at least try to do something about it, because I've got more than 80 DVDs here that might be crap. I went digging for the manufacturer, but, in the end, decided to contact the company I bought them through.

NewEgg got back to me on Monday with an RMA number...for a product I bought in January. But they wanted me to send back all 100 DVDs, which I couldn't do -- I'd thrown out some of the crappy ones, and I've got shit burned on the ones that worked that I don't really want to send off somewhere. So, I told them that.

I just got an email back saying that my not having all 100 meant I couldn't do an RMA, but that they were willing to one-time-offer me a portion of the cost back. $18. of $30something credited back onto the card I used at that time doesn't seem like much, but...I ordered these things back in January.

That's, what, nine months ago? A partial refund for a product I bought nine months ago, that can generally only be returned for replacement by the same product.

There are decent companies left with decent customer service. I'm glad Newegg turned out to be even better than I expected.

I told you so. Since employees at well known foreign banks go around looking for inactive accounts to steal....
