Friday the 13th
I got the rest of the stuff from Newegg today, which is kinda good and kinda bad. I was so thrilled that I completely forgot to take pictures of the boxes before opening them, or doing anything....
In fact, I was so thrilled that I ended up taking a walk before getting anything done, which is only slightly true. I was in the middle of replacing the power supply while I was on the phone with Newegg, and then I was starving, so we took a walk to Safeway, and they didn't have the stuff for their Prime Rib sandwich, so I ended up getting stuff at the gas station where they've got a subway....
Yay for run-on sentences....
Anyway....
That's my new power supply.
And that's what it looks like when I turn off the flash. I didn't mean to get one with a light, but there was a nice mail in rebate, so I don't really care. Also, it seems to work. And I really like those cables....
This is funny. That's the box that the power supply, the case fan I ordered, and the sticker that came as a free gift with the case fan came in. UPS 3Day. Fed Ex. Funny funny....
...the sticker I got. Probably completely worthless, but I got it anyway. It was free.
Here's why I was on the phone with Newegg. The case I ordered [a cheap thing with a power supply, so I could finally get that thing for the TV built] came like this. The little things were floating around loose inside, and the metal bits were all bent in. Also, there's a crack. I don't know if you can see it, but it's there, between where the CD/DVD drives would go and where the floppy drive [or card reader, or whatever] would go.
I don't know if you can see it in this one either, but this is a full shot of the case. And the mess around it, because when the UPS guy rang the doorbell, I was working on reorganising the livingroom. I'd just moved all the game systems and the un-hooked-up VCR to the TV stand [and all the DVDs that were there out of the TV stand], so there's kinda...shit everywhere. Messy.
But the crack is there, and it annoyed me, because my stuff was a day late, and now it's broken. So, bleh.
A pointless picture of the USB ports on the side of the case. I kinda like the way the case looks, myself...that's why I bought it, I guess.
...the box. The battered-looking box. That annoyed me.
Oh, and the inside of the box. With the broken foam packing. The bag that was wrapped around the case also had some holes in it....
And I guess this is a really good place to get into the phone call....
I should probably get this up front -- I love Newegg. They have never once failed me, customer service-wise. I told this to the guy on the phone after he resolved my issues.
I called them up, sat on hold for a little bit, and then told the guy that answered that the case I'd ordered had shown up with a crack in it. He offered to start some sort of investigation into where the damage happened in the shipping process, which would've taken about seven days, and then he offered instead to give me a credit, and let me keep the case [or throw it out, or whatever, since it's broken].
That's just cool.
What's also cool is what happened next. He asked if there was anything else he could help me with, and I brought up the power supply that the current one was ordered to replace. I told him about it, told him that I could RMA it still, but I didn't know where the original box was, and he gave me a credit for that, too.
That was pleasant and unexpected. More companies should be that dedicated to leaving their customers all happy like that. Or maybe more people should just shop at Newegg instead of other places.
I think I've still got stuff to do....
