Did I mention strange and buggy?
I just found out that my Idiot Archive isn't working, because I'm not allowed to use a certain php function with certain forms of a URL, because it might allow a hacker to do something to another site and somehow get my site.
So, now I have to go through and RE-EDIT these things, after I already reedited them to have the right url. As if having my Recent Links plugin not work on me wasn't bad enough....
BUT! I think I finally got that 'how do you pull in those template files from wordpress to another page' thing figured out. So I don't have to modify special files whenever I decide I want a new category.
We'll see, I guess. This is SO going to suck.
Update: As I'm typing this, I'm waiting for the next-to-last batch of Idiot Archive files to upload. I had to modify them twice, because I forgot that I was closing a div tag in the footer.php of the stuff I was originally calling in.
An unexpected bonus of this whole annoying issue is that the plugins -- swaginator and the random image thing -- now work on the Idiot Archive pages. That means I'll definitely be able to add categories without having to worry about updating the sidebar.php file.
Yay.
