The Garbage Thing
So, a couple of days ago [Sunday morning], I discovered that my garbage can was stolen. And my compact fluorescent bulb. And my milk box was destroyed. And there were broken eggs in strange places.
There was a police report filed, but nothing could happen until Monday.
Monday sucked.
Monday turned into 'let's deal with a stupid cunt on the phone' day. This horrid rude...bitch who's hopefully FIRED now was the second person I got to talk to.
It went sorta like this:
Me: Hi. My garbage can got stolen. I called earlier, and someone was supposed to call me back -- a supervisor or something -- but they haven't yet, so I was wondering what was going on.
Bitch: [two minutes of mouthbreathing] There's nothing here about that.
Me: Well, I did it. And I was supposed to get a call back from a supervisor. Hey, maybe you can help me. I've got this police number here.
Bitch: It's going to cost you $100. because [huff] you're responsible for the stolen can.
Me: I really don't see how. And I've got a police report number. The police said that you'd try to charge me if I didn't have it, but I have it. Do you want it?
Bitch: No. [seriously large huff] That doesn't do any good.
Me: The number doesn't do me any good?
Bitch: [huff] You'll have to mail me a copy of the report, because my supervisor will require a copy of the report, not just the number. If I have a copy of the report, you won't be charged the $100.
Me: Can't the company just get the report all by itself if I give them the number? I'm sure it's a matter of public record....
Bitch: NO, [huff] you have to mail it to me.
Me: So the number's useless to you.
Bitch: Listen, [huff] I'm not the one who stole your trash can, so don't get angry with me!
Me: Don't get snippy with me.... [she huffs at me again here] What about getting a new can delivered?
Bitch: Well, you'll have to pay $15. for delivery, and then 2.50 a month on top of what you're already paying....
Me: On top of what I'm already paying?
Bitch: DON'T YELL AT ME!
Me: I'm not. I --
Bitch: You're making me repeat things I've already said --
Me: No, I'm not, this is an entirely new thing. You just told me that I have to pay a rental fee on the new can AND the old can.
Bitch: NO AH DI'INT!
Me: That's it. I can't deal with you anymore.
And I handed the phone off to Gremlin, who was apparently yelled at for MY rudeness, because I apparently wouldn't shut up. I guess I was still talking to her, even though I was no longer on the phone.
Gremlin also got out of her that if he faxed the report directly to her, the whole thing would be 'taken care of', and that it was absolutely no problem for him to just call the police and give them the fax number at their customer service office, and that he should have the police mark it "Attention Varina".
Anyway, I reported her. How could I not?
So, she's being investigated. I hope her likely-identity-stealing ass is on its way to the welfare line right now.
That's about all the good that came out of it.
I've now got a slightly shorter-and-wider version of my old trashcan, slightly flimsier, with strange metal bits...and a $75. bill for the old can.
The customer service manager person who called me back on Tuesday was nice enough to waive the delivery fee and part of the $100 replacement fee because of the 'circumstances'.
But I'm still out $75. More like eighty when you factor in the CF I lost. Even more if you count the sleep I had to give up to be awake for the phone calls, and everything else....
That bugs me.
If anyone out there wants to help make it a little less annoying, there's always my PayPal donation link....
Edit: I forgot until just now. When the person called me back, I got a whole spiffy NEW story about how she-who-huffs-and-mouthbreathes never told me any of the things I said she told me. Isn't that just nice?
