My new Nano case, and UPS still kinda sucks.

So, my new iPod Nano case got here...after 6pm.

Why?

Because the UPS guy lost it on his truck.

This picture sorta shows the box, kinda. It was in that average, rather largish Amazon box. You know the one -- it's big enough to hold several books or DVDs. Kinda hard to lose, y'know?

So, I got sick of waiting at around six, and called UPS. After dealing with their "I'm sorry, I didn't hear what you were asking for, please say..." computer system, I managed to get an actual person that made me kinda wish that I was still dealing with the computer.

"Thank you for calling UPS [something something mumbling loud noises in the background]"

"Um, hi, I kinda have a question about something that was supposed to be delivered today. It's supposed to be a two-day-delivery thing, and it was at the local facility yesterday, but there haven't been any scans. I'm supposed to get it today. What's going on?"

"Can I have your tracking number?"

I give it to her.

"I'll send a message over to them. Can I have your phone number?"

I'm lost, but I give her my phone number.

"Thanks. Can I put you on hold while I send the message?"

"Okay."

By the noises I hear, I'm obviously not on hold the entire time. She 'comes back' and asks, "Do you have another phone number?"

I'm tempted to ask, "What, is the one I gave you invalid?" But I don't, because she adds, "In case we can't reach you at the one you gave us." So, instead of launching into an explanation of how that's my cellphone number, I give her Gremlin's number, and she puts me back 'on hold'.

The call ends on a vague note about messages being sent, and possibly getting a call back. I'm thoroughly lost.

About a half hour later, I get a call from an Unavailable number. I answer, thinking that maybe it's UPS -- and it is! The person on the other end asks me if I put in a request to recieve a delivery time report from 'my driver'. I, of course, am confused, but I do not argue. "Uh, sure?"

"Your driver says that he lost the package. He couldn't find it on his truck earlier this morning, but he's found it now, and he'll be back in your area sometime between six and seven."

Isn't that lovely?

So, I got my case.

Here it is, sorta taken apart. That white thing used to be inside it, and the stuff is a screen protector. That was a real bitch to put on without it getting all bubbly. I eventually had to slide one of my Zeiss lens cleaners under it, and perform this strange three-handed trick of holding the nano, holding the screen protector, and pulling the cleaner wipe out while pressing everything together.

The lens cleaner stuff, by the way, is really decent. I use it on my sunglasses and my camera and stuff. No scratchy, much cleaney.

There's the old sleeve thing, and the new case on the iPod, and the screen thing again.

Just the iPod, in the case. And those are my lovely new headphones -- Koss' The Plug. They're wonderful.

Here it is hooked up to the computer. I have to unfasten the bottom bit to hook it up, so it's not perfect, but it'll do.

I've got it hanging off my camera wrist-strap right now, getting all nice and dry from my wiping down and spraying with leather cleaner and protecting stuff. Probably seems like a waste, but I'd rather be careful.
