New Phones

This won't be very good, because, well, 1. None of my blog posts are ever very good, and 2. My head is in the middle of the most terrible, horrible, ungood nuclear meltdown since 3 Mile Island almost did something, or whatever.

I was asleep -- ish -- when they got here, and Gremlin started opening the box before I could set it up for one of my ever-so-dull photo-blogging shoots.

Perhaps I should make a special new category just for my photo-bloggey posts? Or maybe I should learn what that is before I even think about it.

Or maybe I should just stay on topic. I warned you....

Anyway, so the phones came in these bags. With lots of extra paper and stuff rubberbanded around them like some sort of freakish...official thing.

This would be what Gremlin got. The LG Chocolate, and the Music Essentials Kit.

Here's the first flap of the little box opened.

And here's the inside of the box. I think I might be one of the only people who's bothered to take a picture of the inside of the box, and I really should've done it better.

I was very annoyed, pre-purchase, because I couldn't find anyone with a picture of the contents of the box.

You can kinda almost see them here, except all the books aren't in the shot. Those funny-shaped things in the bottom compartment are the wall charger and the 'headphone adapter'. I don't think any of my current earbuds will work, though. Oh well.

The phone.

The camera, with the little blue bit of plastic still over it.

The phone, on.

A bit of a size comparison shot. That's my iPod Nano next to my LG Chocolate.

And there's my old phone, next to everything.

...and I turned my new phone on, just to be cute and get the sexay red in the shot. Also, I wanted to get a size-comparison shot of it when it was opened.

Just a couple of random thoughts:

It doesn't work anything like an iPod, except in the sense that all the buttons on the upper part are really touch-sensitive, and not actually buttons. You don't have to move your thumb [or finger] around the wheel to navigate the menu -- you just 'tap' the buttons, no movement necessary. It takes some getting used to, especially if you're working with the misinformation that it's at all iPod-ey.

This is my first black phone.

Someone online said it had a touch-screen. It doesn't. They're rather full of shit.

I'm not sure how the home-activation went, really. I'm hoping it worked out okay, because I really don't want to find out at the end of the billing cycle that I completely fucked it up and now owe about a hundred million dollars in stupid, stupid fees.

I should probably call in and make sure that everything went okay, and make sure that there's no new surprises in the contract, but my head hurts way too much for that. Also, I think I'm too late to get ahold of anyone. That, and the last time I called today, I got Beefy the Wonderdummy. You know, the one that sounds like he ran into the wall one too many times while playing football, but kept on going?

Me: "Hi, I was wondering, now that I've activated my new phone, am I still okay to turn my old phone on? I forgot to get my old phonebook off it."

Beef: "Huh?"

Me: "I have a new phone. I still have my old phone. Will turning on my old phone cause me any problems?"

Meatlump: "What? You want to use your old phone while you're using your new phone?"

Me: "No. I want to turn my phone ON so I can put the contacts from it onto my new phone."

Slab of Wasted Human Flesh: "They can do that for you at the store."

Me: "I'm not at the store. There are no stores near me. Am I allowed to turn on my old phone? Will it cause me problems?"

Guy from Mensa: "No, it'll be okay."

Me: "Thank you. Bye now."

And now, Explorer is acting all retarded, and I nearly lost this post. I should post it before I lose everything again....

EDIT: Okay, got Explorer working. Stupid thing.

Anyone who has my number, who also has the misfortune of reading this godawful mess, if you're interested in helping me out with redoing my phonebook, just go ahead and give me a call. I probably won't answer, but at least I'll have your number in my missed-calls list, or whatever it's called on this phone.
