I'm not sorry for hanging up on you, person at Comcast.
I'm not sorry I yelled at you, either.
Why? Because your employer inconvenienced me. You chose to apply for this customer service job, and now you're going to have to deal with it when your company fucks up.
Last night, an apparently useless 'critical update' was downloaded by my DVR, and it erased everything. My currently recorded shows, my Series Prirority List. Everything. No House, no NCIS. No Bones. No big special about catching the Giant Squid on tape. And that's the second time I've lost that one to Comcast's delete-it-all updatefests.
It can't possibly be that difficult to NOT delete everything when you're updating the software. I notice that Microsoft, in all its glorious ineptitude, has not reformatted my computer every time the yellow Windows Update NOW BITCH! shield crops up in my little taskbar thingie. I still have all my email when I update Outlook. When I update Yahelite, my username is still there. All my font settings, too.
Hell, even Dreamhost can manage this amazing bit of amazingness. They have one-click installs and upgrades that don't erase my databases, and don't delete my themes. So, obviously, it's not impossible.
Figure it out. Because, next time? It won't be me yelling at you. It'll be someone who lost their Most Important Episode of a Most Important Reality TV show, and they'll probably be at your door with a gun.
Now get back to work.
