Zombi the Cat

Gender: Female
Age: almost 2, as of 2005

I adopted Zombi late in 2003 from the Denver Dumb Friends League. I saw her on the website -- a three month old kitten named 'Kittle' -- and somehow ended up just rushing off to the shelter just before closing on a Sunday.

They didn't make us come back the next day -- we actually got to sit there waiting for someone to be available to show us the animals we selected in the meantime.

I picked out several cats. Zombi was the first one I got to see.

The first thing she did was jump into my lap and curl up. A little, three month old master-saleskitty. I had to take her home.

And I could. She was already fixed. She went home with us that night, and was left alone while we rushed out to find all the things we needed for a cat that we didn't have.

Zombi went unnamed for several days while we tried to decide what to call her -- because it certainly wasn't going to be 'Kittle'. The name 'Zombi' happened, sort of, when she attacked Gremlin's foot while he was playing some Resident Evil game. We chose 'Zombi' over 'Zombie' because 'Zombi' seemed more feminine. Or something.

The cute little three pound fuzzball turned into this large, incredibly vocal fuzzball. She has more of a vocal range than any cat I've ever known, and she's just not even remotely interested in not speaking her mind, or whatever she's doing when she won't shut up at all.

She also doesn't seem to be at all interested in staying out of the bathtub when a person is taking a bath. She tends to jump in....

Zombi also seems to think that people absolutely need to be relieved of their skin. She will sit there and remove layer after layer of skin with her tongue if you don't stop her.

Zombi and Twitch get along when Twitch happens to be out of her cage. Zombi seems to get it in her head sometimes that Twitch's tail is a toy, but that gets stopped before anything bad can happen.
