The post office thing from yesterday? Actually worked. It's amazing.
Not only did it get here, but it got here before noon, and the mailman knocked and didn't instantly disappear.
Is it very, very sad that I'm pleased when people actually do their jobs?

I got a 'We tried to deliver something by knocking on your door and disappearing as if we were never there' notice from the Post Office on Monday.

I told them to redeliver it Tuesday [online, while making sure I could do that over the phone].

I wait up on Tuesday to make sure I get it.

It's Wednesday now. Guess what....

Yeah. Still don't have it. Because the mailman didn't have it on Tuesday, and he said maybe today. So, when I didn't get it today, I called the stupid 800 number again. And they gave me the number of the main post office here.

And they said they'd have the supervisor call me back. But I'm kinda thinking I won't get that callback.

So, maybe I should be rude and call again.

...and I'm glad I did. Although, it's possible I may've gotten a wrong number, because I got a polite, reasonably intelligent, very helpful woman who actually tracked down the package and said she'd make sure it got out to me tomorrow, and that she'd make sure the mailman waited for me to get to the door.

But I'm still not buying any stamps. Because, really, anyone that helpful isn't going to last long.

I hobbled down to the mailbox a few minutes ago and found a surprise -- four red envelopes. Some people might not think that's a little weird, because they're on one of the bigger plans, but it's not exactly normal for us average 3-at-a-timers.

Even stranger, they were all addressed to me.

The missing one showed up, almost a week late. It's pretty beat up, and there's this funny yellow sticker on it.

UNABLE TO FORWARD/FOR REVIEW
NO FORWARDING ORDER ON FILE
RETURN TO POSTMASTER
OF ORIGINAL ADDRESSEE FOR REVIEW

Really makes me wonder how much of my other mail has actually vanished into the Postal Void. And why someone tried to send my mail to somewhere else. Was Mr. Postal Worker confused by the fact that there are no cars in the driveway?

I guess that would throw people, and make them think that maybe nobody lived here. I mean, we're the only house on the block that doesn't have a full garage AND two or three cars parked all over the place.

In less interesting news, I'm still in pain. I can't straighten my right leg because my knee really doesn't like it, and I'm probably going to be wearing this aircast-like-thing on my left ankle for at least another week. I tried walking without it earlier, and I didn't like it at all.

I have more NCIS now, though, so yay. Netflix time.

And I'm not the only person who thinks so..

Right now, I'm mentally cursing my 'letter carrier' and all his and/or her superiors, wishing thousands of horrible papercuts on them for completely skipping my house on Saturday. I can't wait to see what sort of snide excuse is going to be scribbled on my mail this time. "You parked your car in front of your mailbox" maybe? Except I have a garage, morons. Car's in there, lazy fuck. And don't tell me you can't get out of your truck due to 'regulations', because you do it all the time. You abandoned my Netflix, and failed to deliver my next Netflix - which, by the way, you absolutely fucked up by not getting them sent out together last time.

And you've made my prescription late, so I'm cranky. Because there's no mail on Sunday, because you're all afraid that people will spend time at the post office instead of church. And there's no mail on Monday, because someone didn't discover a landmass.

I wouldn't be surprised if Netflix, in an attempt to keep your sticky-fingered mailpersons from lifting more of their property and upsetting their customers, just hire their own to do the deliveries specially.

Yeah, I know, it's not fair. One day without the mail working the way it's supposed to, and I get upset. But, seriously, how fucking hard is it to do that one simple little job that they do? It's ONE LITTLE JOB. You take the mail from point A to point B. It's not like point B requires you to thread a needle on Mars. There are no launch windows, and machines do most of the work for you. If you can't do it, step aside and let someone else drive around your stupid metal cartruck, and stick those bits of paper into little slots.

And if you can't stand letting a netflix envelope pass you by without swiping it? A subscription is under $20. for three at a time unlimited. And they get cheaper from there. Get your own account, and stop fucking with ours.

They're taking the day off today, the bastards. So it's going to take longer than usual to get my next movies.

I got Hot Fuzz, which was good. I'm a little worried about those guys, though. I'm afraid they might run out of good and turn into those Scary Teen Date Movie types.

I also got Ghost Rider, but I OnDemanded Farce of the Penguins before watching that. I don't know why I did that. Maybe because Bob Saget is a sick person. That kinda prepared me for Ghost Rider, I think. And for my current rewatching of Mars Attacks.

I heard a lot of complaints about Ghost Rider -- about how Nick Cage ruined it all. I suspected that it wasn't Cage's fault, but the fact that it was another comicbook movie.

I think I was right about that.
